Maddy’s Baekil (100 Day)

DEAR MADDY,

This past weekend we celebrated your Baekil (your 100 days)! Celebrating 100 days is so important to us because a long time ago, babies didn’t always live this long and so making it this far was huge! While we didn’t have to worry about you making it to 100 days, it’s still such a huge milestone for us to celebrate. It feels strange to think that just 101 days ago, you were still in my belly. In the last 100 days you’ve learned to do a lot of things like smile, lift your head, laugh, suck your hand (probably your personal favorite) but more than all those things, in the last 100 days you’ve changed our lives for the better.

People always told me that the love I’d feel for my baby is so different, and man… they were right. Even if I tried my very hardest, 101 days ago, I couldn’t have imagined how much I would love you. I cannot remember life before you, and I’m glad I won’t have to ever know life without you again. In the last 100 days, I’ve spent 100 of those mornings staring at you, 100 nights holding you to sleep (haha). I’ve spent 100 days smothering you with kisses and 100 days in awe that you’re my baby.

Your Chinese name, 恩沛 means abundant blessings and your Korean name, 단비 means showers of blessings. How fitting those names are because you really lived up to both of those names!

Just because these 100 days passed, doesn’t mean I won’t stop being in awe of you. I can’t wait to keep watching you grow the next 1000000000 100 days. Thanks for bringing us endless smile and laughter. I promise that I always think it’s worth the broken up sleep at night. More importantly, Maddy, I hope you always know how much you are loved. You are first and foremost by God, then Mom and Dad, all your grandparents and your great grandparents. You are loved by your aunts and uncles (not just the ones we’re blood related to). And of course we cannot forget that you are so loved by your two older cousins. Cheers to many many MANY more 100 days baby girl. I will always take the time to celebrate your life.
