Hello friends!
As I write this post, my blog has not officially launched. I’m still trying to add at least enough posts to fill it out a little, but I did want to have one quick post just about why i’m starting this blog and my hopes and dreams (hehe).
If you’ve known me for a while, you know that I’ve always liked blogging! I go ALL the way back to xanga days (remember eprops?!!?) and then I had a tumblr (honestly probably my favorite blogging platform), then in the more recent years I’ve started free wordpress sites and even a squarespace site, and here I am back with wordpress (but not free :’)). I’ve always enjoyed writing and sharing life through stories and pictures. and all the blogging platforms remind me of where I was in life. Below I’m going to share 3 reasons I like blogging!
1. Blogging has been a great way for me to process current life, make memories, and stay grateful..
I’ve said this more in the past 6 months (because of Maddy) than ever, but truly the days are long but the months and years are short. When I look back at my expired squarespace sight, I see posts I’ve written about my engagement, grad school, and COVID life. These posts were only written 3-4 years ago but in those short years I am not married, working, a Mom?!, and COVID is just another flu. I am so grateful that I can see and still experience how I was feeling, smile at the pictures and memories, and it makes me appreciate life now! Not because it was tougher back then, but because those memories impacted me and brought me to where I am now. Also, I’ve moved around quite a bit growing up, so I’ve always been a big believer that social media is used to make connections and share what’s happening with the friends I can’t see every day!
I used to be diligent about journaling and scrapbooking, but here’s a digital version of those two 🙂
2. Blogging allows a larger platform to share pictures, informations, and ALL the things between.
While I do love instagram and facebook, blogging allows you a platform to share more information. On instagram I always write a short caption usually followed by something a little longer for those who want to read it. BUT I don’t expect people to, because I don’t really read long posts on instagram all the time either! However, when I’m reading a blog, I am LOOKING to read a story or collect information. I enjoy being provided downloads and links to refer back to! The world is truly your oyster on a blogging platform! I can link you to videos and categorize information!
3. I just like it better. hahahaha
If this isn’t the most straight forward answer to this question, I don’t know what is. But there you have it! I Some people assume to have a blog, you must be a good writer or like writing, but in my case, I do like writing but I’m not good at it! I have ALWAYS enjoyed reading blogs and I enjoy writing and sharing on blogs more than other social media platforms! I’ve followed mom blogs FAR before I became a mom and I just feel like it has a more cozy and intimate feel. To be honest with videos becoming the main source of content on instagram and tik tok, it’s difficult to keep up with. So I want to be true to myself and my interests and here we are!
My dreams and aspirations for the blog
In the most simple words, my dream is for this blog to be a place where I can share life as a mom and wife, life in my late 20’s heading to 30’s, and bring joy to my family as well as any who want to share life with us! I don’t want to create a false image of life or motherhood for anyone, but I do hope to build connections and not only share our story but others too!
AND full disclosure, if we’re talking about even bigger dreams, I’d love for this blog to monetize and be a source of income. I am currently a full time occupational therapist and I don’t intend to stop working anytime soon, but with Maddy in the picture now, I would love to spend more time with her. I’ve never dreamt of being a stay at home mom… and even now that job sounds far harder to me than what I am doing, but I love being Maddy’s mom and want to be there for her, explore with her, and build strong foundations for her future.
So with all that said, thanks for taking the time to join me on this journey! You may be a friend or a stranger, but if you’re here, just know your time and support is SO appreciated. I want this to be a place where connections are built, so if you have any content you’d love to see, please feel free to reach out via the contact page or leave a comment! The blank blog is a bit intimidating, but i’m looking forward to the endless possibilities of what lies ahead!
